Keramas Beach
Keramas Beach (or Pantai Keramas) is located in the southeast of Bali, in the Gianyar regency, near Sanur, in the Sukawati region. This is one of the best places for surfing, thanks to high waves and convenient infrastructure, including a bar, restaurant, beach club and several hotels. The beach is surrounded by rice fields and rural landscapes.
Name: Keramas Beach gets its name from the village where it is located. It was originally called "Kuramas", which translates as "golden turtle". Sea turtles once laid eggs on the coast, but they are no longer found here.
Appearance: The beach is covered with black volcanic sand, which glistens in the sun, creating the effect of a scattering of stars. In some areas there are large boulders and fields of soft green algae exposed at low tide. On the beach you can find ducks, which local residents drive to the shore for feeding, as well as fresh fruits, which are sold directly from the trees.
Tranquility and Religious Ceremonies: The beach remains less developed by tourists, making it an excellent place for solitude, meditation and observing traditional Balinese rituals such as Melasti or cremations.
