Beji Guwang Canyon

Features of the canyon

• Origin: The gorge was formed due to thousands of years of exposure to the river, which eroded volcanic rocks.

• Sacred place: The canyon is considered sacred by local residents. Nearby are the temples of Pura Dalem Guwang and Beji Pura Dalem Desa Guwang, which are closed to tourists.

• Landscapes: Around every turn new views open up: bizarre rock shapes, hanging vines, turquoise water in the dry season or muddy brown during the rains.

Routes

The walk through the canyon is divided into three routes of varying difficulty levels.

1. Route No. 1

• Length: 500 m

• Difficulty: 3/5

• The shortest route, suitable for beginners.

2. Route No. 2

• Length: 1500 m

• Difficulty: 4/5

• Includes deep water hazards and cliffs from which you can jump into the water.

3. Route No. 3

• Length: 2500 m

• Difficulty: 3/5

• Finishes with the Hidden Canyon Swing, which takes you 20 meters into the air.

What is important to know

• Equipment: You will be provided with safety helmets, waterproof bags and a first aid kit.

• Guides: The tour is only accompanied by certified guides who know safe routes and can help with photos and videos.

• Precautions:

• The excursion is suitable for people in good physical shape.

• The canyon is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or those over 65 years of age.

• Use non-slip shoes.

• In rainy weather or during floods, visiting the canyon is limited.

How does the excursion work?

Traveling through the canyon is an exciting adventure: you will have to climb over rocks, walk waist-deep in water and overcome various obstacles. The water level and difficulty of the routes depend on the weather. If conditions permit, you can jump into the deep parts of the river while enjoying the adrenaline rush.

Safety

There is a mandatory briefing before the start of the excursion. Precautions include:

• Accompanying a guide (no more than 8–10 people in a group).

• Instruction on actions in emergency situations.

• Wear helmets and follow the guide's recommendations.
