Monkey Forest Alas Kedaton

Monkey Forest Alas Kedaton

Monkey Forest Alas Kedaton is a unique natural park in Bali, covering 12 hectares. It is located in the village of Kukuha, Tabanan District, just 25 kilometers from Denpasar. This place, whose name translates as "Forest Kingdom", is known for its picturesque nature, a 12th-century Hindu temple and an abundance of wildlife, including the famous long-tailed macaques.
The park is surrounded by the greenery of tropical plants, and its territory has all the conditions for a comfortable stay: paved paths, a monkey pool and comfortable playgrounds. Alas Kedaton is less famous than the Ubud Monkey Forest, but because of this the atmosphere is calmer and the animals are friendlier and less irritated by the attention of tourists.

The park is home to about 200 macaques. Watching these smart and funny creatures brings a lot of joy, because they behave like real masters. Macaques live in families, have a strict hierarchy and often interact with people, especially if you treat them with something tasty. However, be careful - monkeys are not shy about stealing anything that attracts their attention.

In addition to macaques, you can find other animals here, including large flying foxes - kalongs, which sleep peacefully in the trees during the day, and pythons, with which you can take a photo. All animals in the park are tamed and accustomed to people.

The main spiritual value of Alas Kedaton is the Kahyangan Kedaton Temple (Pura Dalem Kahyangan Kedaton). This ancient Hindu sanctuary is surrounded by dense forest and is associated with attempts to unite Bali's various religious traditions. The temple has a mystical aura and the grounds are decorated with statues of Hindu deities including Ganesha and Goddess Durga. The entrance to the temple is closed to tourists, but you can walk around its perimeter and admire the architecture freely.
After a walk through the forest, guests will find souvenir shops where they can purchase memorabilia. This is a kind of gratitude to the local residents and trainers who help make visiting the park interesting and safe.

Alas Kedaton is not just a park, but part of the spiritual and natural heritage of Bali. This is a place where you can relax from the hustle and bustle, enjoy the beauty of tropical nature, watch animals and feel the atmosphere of calm and harmony.
