Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

Kanto Lampo Waterfall is a picturesque place on the Bangunlemah River in the northern part of Gianyar, in the village of Beng. This is one of the most accessible and popular waterfalls in southeastern Bali due to its location near Ubud and Denpasar.
Kanto Lampo Waterfall, located on the Bangunlemah River in Beng Village, is one of the most accessible natural sites on the island. Its unique shape, reminiscent of a multi-step stone staircase, and convenient location make it a popular destination for families.

Convenient access for everyone

Kanto Lampo differs favorably from waterfalls such as Git-Git, Munduk or Tukad Chepung in that you do not need to climb through difficult paths or slippery rocks to get to it. There is a convenient descent along wide stairs with railings. Halfway along the route there are changing rooms, showers and toilets. Thanks to these conditions, the waterfall is suitable even for visiting with children.

Features of the waterfall

• Waterfall height: about 30 meters.

• Shape: several cascades through which water flows smoothly down.

• Natural Lake: A shallow pool of warm water forms at the base of the waterfall, ideal for swimming.

Canto Lampo is especially picturesque on sunny days when rainbows appear through the spray. After rains, the jets become more powerful, but the water may be cloudy.

Outdoor activities and nature

• Swimming: You can only approach the waterfall through the water, leaving your shoes at the stairs. The depth of the pool is comfortable, and the waterfall jets are ideal for a natural massage.

• Walking: After fording the river, you will come to a path leading to the observation deck. This place opens up new angles for photography.

• Cave: There is a small cave near the waterfall that is associated with a local legend. It became a secluded place for reflection, although it was inhabited by bats.

The surroundings of the waterfall are surrounded by vines and dense greenery. The stones are covered with soft moss, and on their surface you can see carved heads of spirits, symbolizing the connection of the Balinese with higher powers.
Kanto Lampo is a waterfall that appeared relatively recently. Its appearance is associated with a change in the river bed after a landslide in 2015. The river was previously used to irrigate rice fields, and farmers still worry whether there will be enough water to meet their needs during the dry season.

The name of the waterfall comes from the rare lampo tree, the fruits of which quickly change color from green to red. This makes them difficult to collect, but tourists with children enjoy looking for these unusual trees in the surrounding area.

Kanto Lampo is not only a natural beauty, but also an opportunity to feel unity with the Balinese culture, which sees waterfalls not just as tourist sites, but as places of strength and harmony.
