History of the beach

Until the end of the 20th century, Balangan remained a little-known place. It was first discovered by Australian surfers who noticed the magnificent waves. In those days, the beach could only be reached by boat. Later, a road was built to Balangan, and it became accessible to everyone.

Features of nature

• Rocks and sand: The beach is framed by high limestone cliffs, and the coast itself is covered with soft white sand. During low tides, volcanic rock can be seen, giving the beach a “Martian” appearance.

• Waves and Bottom: Waves in Balangan often exceed two meters, making it a surfer's paradise. However, the bottom is strewn with sharp stones and algae, so the beach is not suitable for swimming.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure is minimal, which preserves the atmosphere of privacy:

• Simple cafes and warungs at the foot of the cliffs.

• Showers, toilets and sunbeds for rent.

• Small guesthouses and shops in the village of Balangan on top of the cliffs.
