Balangan Beach
Balangan Beach is located on the west coast of the Bukit Peninsula, in South Kuta, about 25 kilometers from Denpasar. This picturesque place is surrounded by limestone cliffs, which creates an atmosphere of privacy. The beach is about 700 meters long and its white sand contrasts perfectly with the turquoise water of the Indian Ocean.
History of the beach
Until the end of the 20th century, Balangan remained a little-known place. It was first discovered by Australian surfers who noticed the magnificent waves. In those days, the beach could only be reached by boat. Later, a road was built to Balangan, and it became accessible to everyone.
Features of nature
• Rocks and sand: The beach is framed by high limestone cliffs, and the coast itself is covered with soft white sand. During low tides, volcanic rock can be seen, giving the beach a “Martian” appearance.
• Waves and Bottom: Waves in Balangan often exceed two meters, making it a surfer's paradise. However, the bottom is strewn with sharp stones and algae, so the beach is not suitable for swimming.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure is minimal, which preserves the atmosphere of privacy:
• Simple cafes and warungs at the foot of the cliffs.
• Showers, toilets and sunbeds for rent.
• Small guesthouses and shops in the village of Balangan on top of the cliffs.
Entertainment
• Surfing: Perfect waves attract both professionals and experienced amateurs.
• Walks and photo shoots: The beach is often chosen for romantic shoots, especially during sunset.
• Sunbathing and relaxation: Sun loungers and umbrellas can be rented for a comfortable stay.
Cleanliness and ecology
The beach remains clean thanks to regular cleaning. Even during the rainy season, when a lot of garbage washes up on other beaches, Balangan retains its well-groomed appearance.
Tips for visitors
• Due to large waves and rocky bottom, be careful when entering the water.
• During high season, it is better to arrive in the morning to avoid the crowds.
• Bring sun protection and drinks, as local cafes have limited options.
